Any chef will admit that the sexiest and most colorful meal they enjoy making is a SALAD. Salads can be made in a spun of a minute and yet come out testy, colorful a quite nutritional. Salads are popular all over the world not only because they taste good, but also they are the simplest and most nutritional meal to make.

Salads can be of different types: there is the simple greens tossed salad, which is often called a French salad This salad contains a mixture of greens which are torn into bite sized pieces and then dressed with a light vinaigrette dressing. A good side meal for most roast meats and fried steaks that can be eaten any time.

Another type of salad is the Composed salads. These are salads that are carefully arranged in a serving bowl with a dash of dressing patterned on them with sometimes an addition of grated cheese like Parmesan good example is that of celery, carrot, cucumber, tomatoes and lettuce neatly arranged in a bowl.

There are also cooked salads where cooked vegetables are marinated in a dressing, grilled and then served as an appetizer or a salad with dressings like balsamic vinaigrette. To enhance the flavor of your salad give it a kick of your favorite dressing.

I LOVE salads, but my problem is that I can never seem to make them filling enough. I know eating salads would also help me loose those stubborn last 15 lbs or so I need to loose.

What can I do to spruce up a salad and make it more filling?

I love to put baby shrimp in my salads but can I use it in a simple main dish, like spaggetti, or instead of tuna? Any suggestions?
Wow! There’s a lot to do with shrimp!

I miss the tasty salad bar food from my high school. Should I be able to get a permit or is that considered trespassing? I love their salads.
I wouldn’t even want to eat inside the school’s cafeteria. Merely go in, select my salad, pay, and go to my car and eat my heavenly salad I miss from my high school years.

If so, where do people do this?

In New York we NEVER put cream cheese in fruit salads, maybe it’s just where I live, but this sounds pretty gross to me.

I love salads when I’m out to eat. I love salad, I really do. Except when I’m at home. If I have stuff to make a salad at home, I have zero desire to eat a salad.

I think I just need to make it more appealing.

So, what do you put in a really good, but really healthy salad? What’s a good, but not too fattening dressing? I’ve heard that you need some fat in the dressing to get the full nutrient value from the salad. What’s the best choice for lots of flavor?

If the salad has spinach and other vegetables, maybe some beans too?

Today I has salad with spinach, squash, cucumber, and zucchini. I also had a banana and some water at lunch.

Tomorrow I’m planning on bringing salad with spinach, sugar snaps, squash, and black beans. I’m planning on bringing some grapes too and water.

So, if my salads continue to look like that, and I continue to bring fruit (maybe soy yogurt), is that bad? Or is it good?
    I’m vegan, by the way.

Simple question, and a little background. I will eat some greens, and the only one I actually like is peas. I have tried spinach and cauliflower over time, and never adjusted to them. Any suggestions would be helpful, as I am trying to have a healthier diet.
P.s. I will not eat salads. It comes from a vinegar intolerance, and being raised (forced) to eat salads with dressings has caused a true hatred for most of the ingredients.

Now before you go on saying that its not healthy n such, I mean.. Different types of salad .
Say… Like a salad with some steak and a little bit of cheese.
Or salad with grilled chicken and tons of veggies . I know that I’ve got to get protein and other nutrients. But if I ate only salads like I mentioned above and only drank water and green tea AND worked out 4 days a week… How much weight could I lose in two months time?

I’d like to start making salads at home to take with me for lunch, but my produce always ends up going bad.

    Does anyone have suggestions?
