Ingredients:
- 1 cup cornflour, sieved
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup icing sugar
- 3/4 cup butter, partially melted partially solid
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Beat vanilla, butter and both sugars well, add the egg and continue beating until nice and creamy.
Mix in the corn flour and baking powder and slowly add the milk, mix gently until combined and then beat well again – I like to alternate between high speed and low speed.
Pour into a cake tray and bake for approximately 40minutes or until when poked through the poker comes away clear with no residue.
Serve warm, spreaded with butter

I was just wondering,my niece wants to make her own biscuits. I know there is the one where you buy the biscuits & all you have to make is the icing to put ontop & they decorate it.
How do you make the icing sugar? If its already bought how do you get it a bit thick so that you can smear it onto the biscuit before they decorate it?

I am making custard phyllo pie and I need to modify it in two different ways. Any ideas? Also is there anything I can use instead of cornflour, semolina, lemon or nutmeg? I can just add or take away ingrediants if it doesn’t mess up the cake. This is a link to a picture and recipe from the same book I am using.

Hello, there!
Some of my daughter’s classmates were selling homemade sweets to each other, and I thought I should join too for some extra cash. But I was wondering what inexpensive but delicious baked goodies I can make. The classmates are 8-10 years old. What do you think would appeal to them? I thought of sugar cookies with Pokemon designs on them, but do you have better suggestions?
Your replies are greatly appreciated!

I only have baking soda but the recipe calls for baking powder. What is the amount of baking soda required to get 2 teaspoons of baking powder.

is there a successful cupcake or cake recipe out there that uses only cornflour, no other wheaten flour included?

In American recipes it always says to measure in ‘cups’ but what does this transfer to in British recipes?
